Our client a household name in retail are now for an Operations Manager to join the team and drive the business forward.

Main purpose of job:

• To be a key member of the site leadership team responsible for developing and maintaining a safe and cost effective Distribution Centre
• To lead site operations with accountability for the receipt, assembly and loading operations for all products, including Home Delivery and Horticulture
• To establish, agree and deliver challenging performance objectives across all elements of the operation, ensuring corporate standards for quality, health and safety and people management/ development are maintained

Key accountabilities which add value to the business:

• To create and sustain a safe working environment and culture, ensuring all statutory requirements are adhered to and exceeded where possible
• To provide a high level of service to our stores at lowest effective cost
• To lead/ manage depot operations ensuring service targets, stock accuracy and legal compliance obligations are achieved and exceeded where possible
• To identify and implement improvement opportunities
• To pro-actively seek effective ways of reducing variable costs, such as labour, damage, accidents, stock integrity etc
• To deliver an annual operating budget which fully supports the needs of the site
• To develop relationships with key stakeholders e.g. retail, finance, other network DC’s, to embed a continuous improvement focus and agree cross functional ways of working
• To know the legal and compliance responsibilities of the position and ensure those in areas of responsibility understand and adhere to the compliance responsibilities of their jobs
• To develop and sustain appropriate working relationships which foster a team working environment, engaging colleague across the function
 To drive team and individual development in line with the Company HR strategy and performance management processes
• To deputise for the Depot Manager in his/ her absence
